Whom Won Governor: The Morning After in Arizona

Four years ago, my husband and I decided to take a chance and leave LA for Arizona in order to provide a "better life" for our family.  In some ways we did:  Here we can afford a house, we live near grandparents, and we have good jobs that don't require that 70-hour work week like we did in the LA entertainment industry.  However, little did we realize just how much the political climate would affect us.  It's positively stifling. We kept our chins up last year after our neighborhood was blanketed with signs:  "Yes for Marriage" sprinkled among the houses that didn't already have a foreclosure notice posted.  We've tried to be positive by getting involved in the schools, but Arizona is still ranked among the lowest of the low, including 49th in overall spending per child.  About a year ago we reached the point where we couldn't take it anymore.  We wanted back to the coast or ANYWHERE but here.  But....we're stuck.  It's hard to leave Arizona when you're $100,000 upside-down in your home.  So what do you do if "walking away" from your home is too hard a pill to swallow?  Well, you hope it get's better; however, last night took away all hope.
